Child Friendly Village
Every child deserves a village that sees them, supports them, and grows with them — from the first breath to the threshold of adulthood.
A co-created initiative to nurture the holistic well-being of children across four stages of life: Infant, Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, and Adolescence.
What is a Child Friendly Village?
A Child Friendly Village is not a government scheme — it is a living commitment made by a community to its youngest members. It is a place where a child can be born safely, grow up healthy, learn joyfully, and step into adulthood with dignity, skills, and hope.
Across India and the world, millions of children face preventable suffering — malnutrition, poor education, lack of healthcare, unsafe environments, and invisible mental health crises. The Child Friendly Village initiative by SaSarjan is a call to action for communities to audit, improve, and celebrate what they offer their children — across every stage of life.
Rooted in Community
Change begins locally. Every parent, teacher, health worker, and neighbour is a co-creator of a child-friendly environment.
Collaborative Action
We bring together families, schools, panchayats, NGOs, and healthcare providers to act as one unified ecosystem.
Evidence-Informed
Decisions are guided by on-ground data, developmental science, and lived community experience — not assumptions.
Sustainable by Design
Solutions are built to be maintained by the community itself — financially, socially, and operationally.
Four Stages, One Vision
Each stage of childhood has distinct needs, vulnerabilities, and opportunities. Select a stage to explore the focus areas.
Infant
Pre-Birth to 3 Years
The first 1,000 days of life — from conception to a child's second birthday — are the most critical window for physical and neurological development. What happens in this phase shapes health and learning capacity for a lifetime.
How You Can Participate
This initiative belongs to everyone who cares about children. There is a role for every kind of contributor.
Parents & Families
Share your experience, participate in parenting circles, support your child's school, and help map gaps in your village.
Teachers & Educators
Co-create child-friendly curricula, identify at-risk children early, and connect with the wider resource network.
Health & ASHA Workers
Track development milestones, report health data, and connect families with government schemes and community resources.
Panchayat Members
Champion child-friendly policies, allocate budgets for play areas and libraries, and hold systems accountable.
Students & Youth
Mentor younger children, run awareness drives, and bring fresh energy and ideas to community problem-solving.
NGOs & Organisations
Pool resources, co-design interventions, share evidence, and scale what works across communities.
Professionals & Donors
Contribute time, skills, or resources to specific programs — from scholarships to infrastructure to training.
Technologists
Build tools for tracking, reporting, and communicating — making the initiative more measurable and scalable.
